what will the crochet course cover?​

• learn all the basic crochet stitches - from chain stitch through to treble

• master the foundations of crochet - how to work crochet in a flat and develop the skills to recognise different stitches and confidently count both stitches and rows

• understand the basic terminology to help you follow patterns

• choice of Paintbox recycled cotton yarn, and your very own set of hooks to keep, so you have everything you need to continue your crochet journey at home.

• a small group size so you'll receive personalised guidance and support, helping you gain the confidence to crochet on your own!

• we'll treat you to a refreshing glass of wine or a soft drink, along with a sweet treat, every week

• make your very own pouch! with a couple of designs to choose from, to show off your new-found crochet skills

meet merina

​

meet Merina, our talented Finnish knitwear and crochet designer, who joined the paper stories team earlier this year. brought up in a culture where yarn crafts should be practiced and celebrated from a young age, Merina learnt to crochet at the age of 9.

 

it was as a teen that Merina really found her passion for knit and crochet, when she borrowed yarn from her mum's stash and finding joy in making her own garments.

 

initially studying Fashion Design in Finland, Merina moved to the UK to achieve her masters in Knitwear Design and has been creating, knitting, crocheting and obsessing over all things yarn ever since!

 

Merina often combines knit & crochet in her designs to create pieces that are refreshingly unconventional and modern. if you want to see some of Merina's creations, be sure to check out her Instagram page @merinapelander. get ready to be inspired by her original patterns and stunning designs.
